ARCHITECTURE PC

The initial feasibility study of this wood frame 28,000 square foot, neo-Gothic 120 year old facility, identified a project to bring the building into compliance with current life safety requirements and prepare it to meet the program needs of the Arts Department.

The firm provided two phases of subsequent architectural services, resulting in the creation of a new two-story entrance and gallery space, a student lounge, a sculpture court, and art studios. The building was completely reorganized to recapture its original grandeur and allow the attic to be used for faculty offices and dramatic studio space.

Scope of work included structural repairs, a state-of-the-art base isolation seismic upgrade, foundation reconstruction, creation of new basement program spaces, mechanical/electrical/lighting replacement, life safety upgrades, restoration of brick walls, a new roof, dormers, and glazing treatment to the remaining historic windows.
